Do we really have to celebrate Halloween? What's this stuff all about? Why are everyone's excited about it? Is it about all those zombies or dead people and ghosts? Should Christians participate in Halloween? As we know, October 31st holiday is closely connected with worshiping
SATAN. It is a holiday that generally glorifies the dark things of this world, rather than the light of Jesus Christ.
Halloween's roots can be traced to the Celtic festival of Samhain, which marked summer's end. It was believed that on Samhain, the border between the world of the living and the dead allows spirits to pass through to attack humans, who could escape only by assuming disguises and looking like evil spirits themselves. That is how the idea of wearing scary, bloody and gory costumes got started. But believe it or not, most of our Halloween practices can be traced back to these old pagan rites and superstitions.
Quote to remember:
"I think we ought to close Halloween down. Do you want your children to dress up as witches? The Druids used to dress up like this when they were doing human sacrifice...[The children] are acting out Satanic rituals and participating in it, and don't even realize it."--Pat Robertson, "The 700 Club," 1982-OCT-29
